A MIMO antenna is one in which two or more antennas are integrated inside a single enclosure. In conventional wireless transmission, a single antenna is used at the transmitter side and another one at the receiver side. In many cases, this give rise to problems of multipath effects. When an electromagnetic field is met with obstructions such as hills, buildings, trees and so forth, the wavefronts are scattered and thus they take many paths to reach the destination (the receiver). The late arrival of scattered portions of the signal causes problems such as fading, cut-out and intermittent reception. In digital communication systems, it would cause a reduction in data speed and an increase in the number of errors.
By using MIMO antennas at the receiver side and/or the transmitter side, in case of digital transmitter, this will limit the degradation caused by multipath wave propagation. These additional paths can even be used to advantage because they can be effectively used as additional "channels" to carry data, therefore increasing the link data capacity. Accordingly, this antenna is particularly useful for areas susceptible to multipath interference.
The antenna is weatherproof and is therefore suitable for indoor as well as outdoor installation. The casing and connector are made of corrosion-resistant material to withstand harsh outdoor conditions. Suitable to use with receiver and/or digital transmitter to improve gain for better coverage. 2.4GHz version is also available.1) A panel antenna with 2 built-in antennas; and

1) When running extension cable between the antenna and the transmitter (or the receiver), it should be kept as short as possible. It is not recommended to run cable beyond 10 meters (approx. 32 feet) to avoid excessive signal loss.
2) Instead of using extension cable between the antenna/transmitter (or the antenna/receiver), you may extend the distance between the transmitter and the camera (or the receiver and the monitor) using high grade 75 ohm coaxial video cable such as RG6 cable. See an illustration here.
